Frequently Asked Questions

With over 20 years Xperience we've got the answers to any questions you might have about leasing. Below are our most commonly asked questions and their answers.

If you near the end of your lease and decide that you'd like to keep the vehicle for longer than the original contract period then we can request an extension quote for you.

Most of our funders offer 6 or 12 month formal extensions but do require a few months’ notice, so you'll need to let us know as soon as you decide that you'd like to extend the lease.

Alternatively, you might want to keep the car on a less formal agreement, for example if your new car is being delivered a few weeks later in which case you’ll enter an informal extension.

For more information we’ve got an article on the differences between informal and formal extensions. (Add link to informal vs formal blog and extension guide)

Please get in touch with us if you're looking to extend your current lease.

Some funders offer the option of purchasing the vehicle at the end of the lease but this isn't guaranteed. If you're near the end of your lease and want to discuss this, please call our Support Team on 0330 221 0000.

The fair wear and tear guidelines are guidelines set by the BVRLA. These guidelines are provided to protect you as the leaseholder and the lease provider, to make sure that you can use the car fairly and that they get it back in a good condition.

We’ve got more information on these guidelines if you’d like to learn more about them. Or if you’re already in your lease car you can request a copy from your funder.

Your car will need to be returned in a good condition in line with the fair wear and tear guidelines. The funder doesn't expect the car to be in brand new condition, but in a good condition in line with regular use and care over the time you’ve had it.

You’ll need to contact your funder to arrange collection at the end of your lease. If you’re not sure of the contact details then you can call our team on 0330 221 0000 and they’ll be able to confirm them or request the collection on your behalf.

You generally need to give 7 days’ notice for collection and most funders will only collect the car Monday to Friday. Just like with delivery, it will be an all day window and the car will be inspected and from this there will be handover paperwork for you to sign.

On the collection day the vehicle will be inspected and you’ll have to sign to agree with the inspection report. This will usually be done by the driver collecting your car, however it can sometimes be done by another agent on the same day.

You’ll be able to add any comments you have to the inspection document as well.

The driver will then take the keys, including the second set, and drive the car away.

Next, your funder will review their inspection report and let you know if there are any additional charges. If there are they’ll let you know the amount, reason for the charge and how payment will be made.

At the end of your lease you’ll have a couple of options available to you and we’ve got a full breakdown of them in our end of leasing guide

Most people choose to get a new lease car to replace their current one and arrange collection of their current car.

Our team will be in touch multiple times over the last 4 months of your lease so that we can arrange a new car for you if needed, as well as let you know about what you need to do to arrange for collection of your current car.

If you exceed the mileage allowance then you'll be charged for the excess mileage. This is a cost you agree to when taking out the lease and is usually set at a pence per mile figure. It can also be called an overmiles charge.

Something to be aware of is that if you have a maintenance agreement as well you’ll have 2 overmiles charges, one for the finance agreement and another for the maintenance agreement.

At the end of the lease your mileage will be taken and if you've exceeded the allowance you will be advised of the total charge.

If you have a question that wasn't answered above then just get in touch and we'll have the answer for you.
